I wanted to read the book Legacy of Luna because I am personally involved with groups who are protecting the ancient redwood forests in California and Oregon. And so this particular book was important - something important for me personally to read and to understand her struggle. It's a true story written by Julia Hill, and it's a book about a woman who lived for two years in an ancient redwood. It's a thousand year-old tree that was being threatened to be cut down.
What someone could get out of this book is an understanding of the bitter struggle between the groups like Earth First and the logging industry. The book reads like a diary; it doesn't necessarily read like a textbook case on how to save the forests or anything like that, but it can give a reader or any layman an idea of the struggle and the battle that - and the battle that Julia Hill endured. And also, it's just I think an inspirational story without being preachy.
I would give this book four stars because I think that it's an important piece of work that needs to be read.
